For those seeking educational enrichment, our literacy offerings provide valuable learning experiences.
Expert-led and thoughtfully structured, our camp days feature a range of rotating activities with options like sports and arts and, if possible, refreshing swim time! Theme weeks and special events like Halloween at Camp, Crazy Hat Day, and Camp Olympics infuse excitement, creating an unforgettable summer of exploration and enjoyment.
A Day at Camp
The day starts off with arrival beginning at 8:00 a.m., followed by a spirited morning assembly. After, campers go off to enjoy a variety of activities designed to spark curiosity, such as sports, arts and crafts, yoga, STEM, trips to the parks, and more. Their days are enriched with Reading Comprehension and Decoding lessons, creating a well-balanced schedule filled with moments of learning and play.
We kindly ask that campers be dropped off and picked up, as we will not be providing transportation this year. For added convenience, an early arrival option is available at an extra cost. Campers will be ready to be picked up by 4:00 p.m., concluding their day of activities and fun.

Students at Camp Churchill participate in at least one literacy session per day. The focus of these sessions is on decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary development, and writing. They also target specific skills throughout the weeks of camp, such as inference, summarizing, and literary elements.
Due to the range of ages and learning needs of each group, the teachers provide direct instruction in smaller groups and whole-class instruction, typically rooted in activity. When in small groups for direct instruction, the teachers use the Wilson Rewards and Fundations program elements to build decoding and comprehension skills.
Since this is a summer camp setting and not an academic day program, our literacy sessions aim to prevent summer regression while ensuring opportunities for ongoing skill building. The teachers will not conduct diagnostic progress monitoring.
